Dental Practices

1. Powerful yet safe Disinfection

  • HOCl is broad-spectrum: It kills bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores including SARS-CoV-2, MRSA, and oral pathogens like Streptococcus mutans and Porphyromonas gingivalis.
  • It’s non-toxic, non-irritating, and pH-neutral, making it safe for use around patients, staff, and sensitive dental equipment.

2. Ideal for Aerosol-Generating Environments

  • Dental procedures (e.g. ultrasonic scaling, drilling) generate aerosols that can carry pathogens.
  • HOCl can be fogged or misted into the air and onto surfaces, reducing airborne and surface contamination within 30–60 seconds.

3. Biofilm Removal in Dental Waterlines

  • HOCl is highly effective at dissolving biofilms in dental unit waterlines (DUWLs), which are often contaminated with bacteria and fungi.
  • It’s one of the few agents that can shock and maintain waterline hygiene without corroding internal tubing.

4. Surface & Equipment Disinfectant

Used to disinfect:

  • HDental chairs
  • Light handles.
  • Impression trays.
  • Countertops and cabinetry.
  • Unlike bleach or quats, HOCl won’t damage upholstery, plastics, or electronics.

5. Oral Rinse & Periodontal Applications

  • HOCl is used as a mouth rinse to reduce plaque, gingivitis, and periodontal pathogens.
  • More effective than chlorhexidine with fewer side effects like staining or taste alteration.

Intraoral Use: Mouth Rinses & Periodontal Care:

  • Pre – procedural rinse to reduce microbial load.
  • MPeriodontal irrigant for gingivitis and periodontitis.
  • Root canal disinfectant ( in same protocols).
  • Reduces plaque, halitosis and post-surgical infection.
  • Non-cytotoxic to gingival fibroblast and oral mucosa, unlike chlorhexidine.

Aerosol and Airborne Pathogen Control:

  • Applied via fogging or misting to reduce airborne microbial load post-procedure.
  • Reduces fallow time between patients.
  • Safe to use in occupied spaces due to low toxicity and no VOCs.

Estorm Hocl is: Made using an Article 95 – listed active substance source. Clinical & Regulatory compliant with EN 14476, EN 1276, EN 13697 standards. Recognised by the European Commission as one of the least harmful disinfectants.
